Mentor: Cecila Hudnet
- What inspired you to want to work in the corporate arena? After almost 25 years in the hospitality industry, I remain passionate about the opportunity to service our guest. I love the friendships that I made thru the years with other sales team members; and the relationship that I build with my clients and guest.
- What advice do you have for women that want to spark change? I will say a friendly personality, the right attitude and willingness to learn are the key to success.
- What do you feel is the single most pressing issue facing women today and why? Many of the biggest workplace challenges facing women revolve around gender. Why do females still earn less than males holding the same job? Not sure why we find ourselves doing the same or more work than a male and somehow we get compensated less. Sometimes we need to speak up and make sure that are voices are heard.
- Tell us about a women mentor that had helped your journey. I was giving the opportunity to be an Acting General Manager by a VP of Sales and Marketing Sandra; who told me that she believed I could assist her with that position, I worked crazy hours to make her proud, and I was so excited that she trusted me at such a young age with the entire property. After several months, she decided to hire a full time General Manager and decided to offer me the position as Director of Sales and Marketing for the property. I was delighted to accept the position. I been blessed to have several women in my path that have giving me the opportunity to grow and become who I am today. I am thankful for my mother who always told me I could be whatever I wanted to be as long as I did it with love and passion. I believed that if I give 100% or more I would be successful in my life. I love what I do and I am proud to be a mother of two amazing girls who are as giving as I am and have the entire future in their hands. I hope with all my heart that they get the opportunity to live life to their fullest with no regrets the way that I have done.
